Well our first foal is here at last!!  A gorgeous little colt by Wessel out of our friesian mare Irma.  He was born just before 2am on the 25th of April, all went well and he was up and chatting away within 20 mins!  We are going to call him Orion as it was such a nice starry night when he was born!

We let him out today just for a trot about the yard for 10 mins as the weather seems to have gone straight back into winter!, as soon as it turns mild he will be out and hopefully by then Socks will of had her foal - she looks like a beached whale so it shouldn't be too long!!

He is 1 day old in the pics below.

Well Sundays weather was more spring like so Orion had his first day out at grass and had a great day as you can see, and Irma had a lovely time rolling in the mud!!, he's very cute and really friendly - humans make great bum scratchers!!!!

Our latest arrival is a lovely bay TB x Wessel colt, out of our TB mare Socks (Boloula is her reg name).  He was born on Monday 28th April at about 1.30 pm Socks had picked a really nice sunny day which was nice!   It was a text book foaling and Socks was up and stuffing her face about 20 mins later - I think she was rather pleased that she now had plenty of space to fit all that juicy grass!!!  We have called him Soloman and he is identical to his full brother from last year, Samson, except he has his white sock on the opposite hind leg - I think they would make a gorgeous driving pair!!!!

Here are some pics of him just after he was born and some the next day.

Here he is at 1 day old and you can see just how tall he is!, you wonder how on earth all that fit inside the mare just yesterday!!!!!

Here he is at 1 week old - he's turning into a really handsome chap!

Our next foal to arrive is a huuuge chunky friesian colt by Wessel out of our imported Ster mare Carolien.  He arrived on the 5/5/08 just before 3am and all went well - the first 2 pics below are just after he was born and only a few minutes old.

We turned him out that morning as it was a really lovely sunny day.  As you can see below he soon found his feet and was having a good few wobbly dash abouts!  We have called him Apollo.

Little Orion, who is now 10 days old, was watching along with his dam Irma the new arrival with much interest!

Our next foal to arrive is a gorgeous and very elegant filly by Wessel out of our friesian mare Hannah, born on Saturday 10th May, all went well and she folaed out in the field on a lovely warm evening, we missed her being born by about 5 mins - Hannah is rather sneaky and doesn't like being watched - she was happily grazing with the others so I went and had supper and checked again 20 mins later - as soon as I was out of sight she dropped her!!!

We have called her Constance.

The pictures below are of her at 1 day old and 4 days old.

It's amazing how quickly they muscle up! - Soloman is 2 weeks old here.

Apollo looking very handsome at 1 week old,

he is certainly a very confident little man and

                                                 loves being scratched!

Fish At Dawn finally foaled at just after 2 am on the 22/5/08.  She had a gorgeous and very tall bay colt, all went well although he has a very deep chest so required a bit of help being born!  But he was up and feeding within half an hour and mum is fine!

A few hours later, Archer as he's now been named, was enjoying the sunshine, he's going to be a very tall boy, he has such a sweet face, the only white on him is a small white sock with a few ermine spots like his mum.

Archer at 3 days old - already filling out quite nicely. You can see just how big he against his 16.3 Hh mother!

Apollo at  just under 3 weeks old looking quite the stallion already. He has a huge cresty neck and is absolutely solid!! He's going to definately be a baroque friesian! We have decided we are going to keep him for the moment and get him registered with the FPS.

Soloman at just under 1 month old.

Orion at 1 month old having a trot about with Irma.

Our last foal finally arrived!! Willow's new colt foal arrived on 30/05/08... she was very sneaky and managed to have him by herself in the field! Both are doing very well and we're very pleased with this handsome colt who looks very similar to Phoenix when he was that age. These pictures are of him at just a few hours old.
